A simple question this month - do it in your head if you can.
Does the ladder work?
Note that a ladder works if the outside player succeeds in capturing the inside player's stones. In this case, if despite the stones in the bottom right white is captured, then the ladder has worked. White would be happy if the ladder fails.
An extension to this problem - How does the answer change as the ladder in the top left moves up or down.
It also works for almost any shift of the ladder. If the ladder is
moved up by 1 or 2 points or down by 1, 2 or 3 points it continues to
succeed.
I haven't bothered to show the diagrams - it should just be a case of
playing them out on a board if you have any doubts.
