Dia 1 Black to play.

This is one of the Bracknell 2005 problem's that I got wrong. Presenting it here should allow careful study of it!

Dia 2 Correct moves 1-7.

Black 1 was not a move I saw. It enlarges the sacrifice to three stones, but keeps White busy. Obviously If White tenukis any of the Black moves here, the white stones get captured and Black's life becomes easier. Black 7 makes one eye in gote.

Dias 3 & 4 Move 9 is wrong.

Black cannot protect the single black stone in atari, with either a connect (Dia 3) or a capture (Dia 4). Both lead to a false eye and death.

Dia 5 Correct moves turn into ko.

White has a local ko threat to separate the two halves of the black structure.

It's not surprising I didn't see this answer!
