It is apparent that there is one white eye on the fifth line, whatever Black may do. Therefore the problem is to prevent a second eye being formed at the bottom edge.
The only way to do this is to manage to get a stone into a key place and then connect it out (or capture a side wall). Tactics such as reducing the eyespace will force the formation of a (small) second eye.
As can be seen, White easily makes an eye.
In Dia 4, White cannot disconnect black due to a shortage of liberties. In Dia 5, Black sets up a snapback to capture the right side wall.
